Do I need an Environmental Permit?
Many waste management and industrial activities in England and Wales require an Environmental Permit to operate under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016. Similar legislation exists in Scotland and Northern Ireland, meaning that many sites and mobile plant activities in the UK must have a suitable permit in place to ensure compliance with environmental law (failure to have such authorisations is a criminal offence).
Waste and Industry Compliance Limited are able to advise on all aspects of environmental permitting and prepare all associated application forms, reports, risk assessments, environmental management systems and drawings.
Environmental Reporting
Waste and Industry Compliance Ltd are able to provide a full spectrum of environmental reporting services, including preparation of quarterly and annual environmental monitoring reports, energy, water and raw material consumption reports and waste returns. Regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) often require environmental reporting as part of an Environmental Permit (or PPC Permit in Scotland) and as a way of demonstrating transparency and commitment to
environmental protection.
Environmental Management System reports cover the
improvements to environmental performance following initial planning:
- Environmental Management System verified under
the EU Eco-management and Assessment Scheme needs organisations to provide
Environmental Statements, which provide detail regarding legal compliance and
the environmental impacts made.
- ISO 14001 only requires the environmental
policy to be made publicly available and requires no internal reporting
regarding performance and audit findings. ISO 14001 also provides guidance
regarding the evaluation of environmental performance.
- A newer ISO standard referred to as ISO 14016,
looks to assess the credibility of performance data and other environmental
information.
Air Quality Assessment
Air quality has only been fully recognised as a big issue in
the UK in recent times. This is a topic we are all to aware of at Waste and
Industry Compliance Ltd. NOx and SOx emissions as well as other particle emissions
due to industrial processes are under fire. This has naturally increased the
prominence of Air Quality Assessment within multiple industries.
In a collaborative effort with partners with an impressive
background in this field, we provide a service utilizing computer-based
dispersion methods to both residential and commercial developments. As well as
this, we cover more industrial processes including power generation, chemical
handling and energy from waste.
