Permit Applications & Variations We provide a full range of environmental permitting services for all types of waste management facilities and industrial activities. We have considerable experience in:
Bespoke and Standard Rules permits for the waste industry Part A1 Installations for listed waste and industrial activities Part A2 and Part B Installations regulated by the local authorities Discharges to surface watercourse and groundwater. Our permitting staff typically have previous experience of working for regulatory bodies in the environmental sector, including the Environment Agency, and are able to provide expertise from the initial site design stage, through to pre-application discussions and consultations, preparation and submission of the application, and pre-submission liaison up to issue of the permit. Thereafter, we can provide an ongoing point of call to help comply with permit conditions and legislation. We are able to prepare and submit the quarterly and annual environmental reports often required by permit conditions.
Permit changes Permit Variation
Although we recommend that permit applications include activities that our clients are likely to undertake in the future to avoid the need and costs of varying a permit at a later date, occasionally changes occur on-site or new opportunities arise that require a variation. We can prepare and submit applications to vary permits, including adding new activities, increasing throughput or incorporating additional land under the permit boundary.
Permit Transfers
We are able to prepare applications to transfer a permit from the current holder to a new individual or business that will operate the site.
Permit Surrenders
We can submit applications to surrender environmental permits when they are no longer required and thereby avoid the need for on-going annual subsistence fee payments to the regulator to inspect the site.
Permitting and Compliance Reports We have significant experience in preparing all the reports, risks assessments and drawings required by the permit application and determination process, including:
Site Condition Reports H1 Environmental Risk Assessments Environmental Management Systems Environmental Monitoring Plans Air Quality Assessments Noise, Odour and Dust Management Plans Accident Management Plans Fire Prevention Plans Best Available Techniques (BAT) Assessments Decommissioning Plans Trade Effluent Discharge Consents Other than domestic sewage (e.g. from toilets, showers or wash basins) and uncontaminated surface water and roof water run-off, businesses that discharge effluents to the foul sewer are likely to require a Trade Effluent Discharge Consent from the relevant water company.
Industries that manufacture chemicals, metal finishing, food and drink etc, some waste facilities and operators of launderettes or car washes are likely to require a Trade Effluent Discharge Consent.
All Trade Effluent Discharge Consent Applications must be made using a standard document, depending on site circumstances this will be either a G/02 or G/03 form. In addition, a detailed site drainage plan will be required that shows the discharge point to foul sewer, access details for monitoring and the route taken by the sewer from the site.
We are able to advise on trade effluent discharges and complete all aspects of the application process, including form G/02 or G/03 completion and the preparation of site drainage plans.
